| Saturday June 7 | National Trails Day
The Littleton Conservation Trust is sponsoring walks to celebrate the day and commemorate the opening of two new trails. Both trails connect to existing town open space, providing the potential for more time in the woods. 7:30 AM - An informal birding walk starting from the Sarah Doublet Forest parking area off Nashoba Road. The walk will take us below the orchard to Nagog Hill Road, then to the Cobb Memorial footpath and the Nashoba Road trailhead. From there we will walk or ride back to the Sarah Doublet Forest. We will get a chance to take turns contemplating Nashoba Wetlands from a granite bench created as part of graduating student Nadine Nadeau's Senior Project. 11:00 AM - The second walk will include some identification of invasive plant species. It will start at the Hartwell trailhead off Hartwell Avenue. We will walk from there to Russell Street and return taking secondary trails to minimize back tracking . Rick Findlay will conduct the walks. If there are any questions, he can be reached at 486-8482. |
